Congratulations to our Coaches vs Cancer Green Bay Gala Fan of the Year, Blake Butch!
This year, we are proud to recognize Blake Butch and his family as our Fan of the Year — a tribute not only to their connection to our community, but to their extraordinary strength, resilience, and unwavering hope.
Blake is the son of Brian Butch, former Wisconsin Badger, and professional basketball player, who many know from his time on the court and as a sports analyst. But beyond basketball, Brian and his family have faced a deeply personal battle—one that has inspired so many.
Blake was a happy, healthy toddler when his mom noticed a small head tilt that didn’t seem right. Despite initial medical reassurance, Brian and his wife trusted their instincts and continued to push for answers. An MRI ultimately revealed a brain tumor in Blake’s cerebellum.
After a period of monitoring, Blake underwent a minimally invasive laser surgery that successfully treated the tumor. While the outcome was encouraging, the family knew there was a chance it could return. After three years of follow-up care, that possibility became reality. In September 2025, Blake underwent a second surgery — a full craniotomy.
Today, Blake is back to being an active, joyful kid, surrounded by the love of his family and community. While his journey continues with ongoing monitoring, his story is a powerful reminder of the importance of trusting your instincts, advocating for those you love, and never giving up hope.
We are honored to celebrate Blake, Brian, and their entire family at this year’s event. Their courage and resilience embody the true spirit of what it means to be a Fan of the Year.
